Jacqueline F. Taylor Gladewater " Services for Jacqueline F. Taylor, 83, of Gladewater, and the wife of Col. Thomas G. Taylor, will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at 3 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Gladewater with Reverend Cliff Horton officiating. She was born in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, to Adam and Frances Sole on February 19, 1928. She graduated from London High School , Kilgore Junior College, and Stephen F. Austin University where she received a Master"s Degree in Education. She taught in the Demonstration School. On Feburary 1, 1950, she married Thomas Taylor in Nacogdoches. When he was recalled into the U.S. Air Force, she quit teaching and became a homemaker in order to raise her four children. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and Southeast Asia as he followed a career in the Air Force. Upon his retirement, they moved to Gladewater. She was a Past Matron of the Gladewater OES, a member of the Gladewater Music Club, and a member of the East Texas Quilters Association where she won many prizes for her excellent quilting. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle, and her parents. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas G. and Marcia Taylor of Wiggins, MS; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Randy Perry of Sprindale, Arkansas; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Ronald Herbster of Winston, Georgia; a son-in-law, Robert Thurlow of Ft. Collins, Colorado; a brother; 2 sisters; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John Fields, Jim McKinley, Bill Walker, Carl Auvil, Robert Ray, and Page Gay. If so desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas,4111 University Boulevard, Tyler, Texas 75701 or to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 3, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
