Memorial services for Jack L. Hamil, 87, of Longview, formerly of Gilmer, will be held at 11:00A.M., Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer. Mr. Hamil passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, in Longview. Mr. Hamil was born on May 25, 1928, in Wellston, MO, to Allie Hausan Hamil and John William Hamil. He worked in management for McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing Aircraft before his retirement. He was a licensed pilot; a member of First Baptist Church, Gilmer and the Fisherman"s Sunday School class; Gilmer Rotary Club; member and past president of the Gilmer Lions Club; and chaplain of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Mr. Hamil is survived by his wife, Jean Cox Hamil of Gilmer; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Tarver of Denver, CO, Dale and Frances Hamil of Highland, IL, Alan and Chris Hamil of University City, MO; daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Norman Harrison of Barnhart, MO, Nancy and Bernie Hutchinson of Arvada, CO, Cheryl Cox-Vokes and Charles Vokes of Santa Fe, NM; brother and sister-in-law, John Raymond and Pat Hamil of St. Louis, MO, sister, Alleda Caudle of St. Louis, MO; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Hamil was preceded in death by his parents, and brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Fran Hamil. The family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Library, 304 Buffalo, Gilmer, Texas 75644.
