Iverson "Ike" King Liddell

lke passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Good Shephard Medical Center in Longview,Tx after a lengthy illness. lke was born a Chickasaw Native American in Thackerville,Ok on April 29, 1933 to Minnie and D.V. Liddell. lke was the youngest of 11 siblings. He is survived by his wife Bettie, his two sons, Mark, of Henderson and wife Anna, Lane, of Gladewater, his two grandchildren, Stephanie, of Henderson and Ty, of Austin, and his two sisters, Betty Gallaway of Thackerville,Ok and Jeanne Cockran of Houston, TX. lke moved to Gladewater,Tx in 1951 and met Bettie Reynolds, and as he would like to say, by just "whistling at her and making her fall in love with him". They later married in 1955 and went on to have two caring sons, Mark and Lane. lke was a successful home builder for 45 years, building many homes all across the East Texas area. As well as being a successful home builder, he enjoyed spending every 4th of July weekend in Thackerville,Ok with all of his family. He was a man of the Lord and devoted himself dearly to the church and his family. lke was a Deacon as well as a Boy Scout leader for many young men of the city of Gladewater. ln lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Gladewater, P.O. Box 1444, Gladewater,Tx 75647. The viewing will be held on Friday, September 26th from 5:30-7:30pm at Croley Funeral Home, 401 North Center St, Gladewater, Tx 75647. The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 27lh at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Gladewater, 300 W. Upshur Ave., Gladewater, Tx 75647. Pallbearers are Chris Reynolds, Tom Witherspoon, Randy Liddell, Brian Liddell, Glenn Gallaway, and Keel Liddell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church in Gladewater, TX.
