Iota "Pete" Davis Bates

Funeral services for Iota "Pete" Davis Bates, 86, of Gilmer will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Reverend Rusty Fennell and Reverend Richard Laster officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Mrs. Bates passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 in a Longview hospital. Mrs. Bates was born April 6, 1929 in Gilmer, TX to James Madison and Della Magdalene Fullen Davis. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gilmer. Mrs. Bates married William Rodger Bates, Sr on November 9, 1947 in Camp County. She is survived by her son, William Bates and wife, Ann; daughters, Jo Ellen Tefteller and husband, Todd, Sandy Bankston and husband, Tommy and Patty Yazell and husband, Jay; brother, Hilton Davis; grandchildren, Bryan and Kellie Bankston, Brent Bankston, Blake and Christina Talley, Kyle and Chelsie Talley, Rodger Bates, Matt and Amanda Bryant, Jarom and Regina Tefteller, Andy Tefteller and Clayton Tefteller; great-grandchildren, Mattie Bankston, Landry Bankston, Crockett Tefteller, Bonnie Tefteller, Bowie Tefteller, Caki Talley, Clara Beth Talley, Elizabeth Bryant and Turner Bryant. Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by husband, William Rodger Bates, Sr. on January 12, 1997; parents; brother, Carroll Davis; and sister, Imadene Davis Stracener. Pallbearers will be Bryan Bankston, Brent Bankston, Blake Talley, Kyle Talley, Rodger Bates, Jarom Tefteller, Clayton Tefteller, Andy Tefteller and Amanda Bryant Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
