Ideallie Lorena "Aunt Dumpy" Bruner

Ideallie Lorena “Aunt Dumpy” Bruner, age 89 of Gladewater, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at her home. She was born on May 17, 1931, in Springhill, Louisiana to the late James A. Morgan and Melisa Simms Morgan. Ideallie was raised in Cotton Valley, Louisiana where she graduated high school and married the late, Charles Bruner, at the First Baptist Church on June 10, 1950. They lived in Bossier City until 1963, when they moved to Hitchcock, Texas until moving to Texas City in 1967, and retired to Gladewater in 1986. She served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, teaching children and adult classes, and while in Texas City she started a class for special needs children. She was a loving wife and devoted homemaker, former cafeteria worker at Danforth Elementary in Texas City, president of the Gladewater AARP, participant and supporter of the Gladewater Craft Show. She went on mission trips to Mexico to help with building projects and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gladewater.

She was preceded in death by her parents James A. Morgan and Melisa Simms Morgan; her husband, Charles Bruner; four brothers, Daniel, James, Leonard, and Robert; and two sisters, Myrtle and Evera.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy C. Hunter and husband John of Mabank; sons, Billy Bruner of Gladewater, Jerry Bruner of Gladewater, Charles E. Bruner and wife Julie of Big Sandy; four grandchildren, Jacob Bruner of Longview, Brandon Hunter and wife Mackenzie of Longview, Tiffany Hunter of Mabank and Paul Bruner of Big Sandy; and one great-grandchild, Oran Clement Hunter of Longview.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the First Baptist Church of Gladewater, Pastor Bailey Harris officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM at the church. Interment will follow at Gladewater Memorial Park.
