Services for Hubert "Hootie" Ray Edmondson, 69, of Brookshire and formerly of Gladewater, will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Larry W. Osborne officiating. Burial will be in Gladewater Memorial Park. Born on June 11, 1943, in Longview, Texas, to Robert and Imogene Edmondson, he passed peacefully to God on Sunday, October 7, 2012. Gladewater was his home for the first eighteen years of his life. His school days and his classmates were most special to him. He loved sports, the Gladewater High School Band, and the Gladewater High School Drama Department, performing in several high school plays under the direction of Roy Brown. He was a member of the North Main Church of Christ in Gladewater. For the most part of his life, he has been in the wine distributing and wholesale business, having received high respect among his industry peers and colleagues. His love of golf became a passion for him, especially recently as he returned for the GHS Class Reunion Golf Tournaments, receiving numerous awards. He is survived by his brother, Bobby Edmondson; cousins, Jenny Lee Gross, Butch O'Neal, Gary Henson, Mike Davidson, Greg Davidson, and Tommy Tompkins. Pallbearers will be Ed Smith, Bill Hatton, Donald Humphries, James Reynolds, Ronald Gage, and Gail Henson. Honorary pallbearers will be David Phillips and Maurice Surface. If so desired, memorials may be made to Feed the Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, or to your local ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
