Howard W. Gatlin

Graveside services for Howard W. Gatlin, 75, of Hawkins will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, TX with Odell Newsome officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins. Mr. Gatlin passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014. Mr. Gatlin was born on February 17, 1939, in Wolfe City, TX to Otis Howard and Robert Helen Roddy Gatlin. He was a retired thirty-year pharmaceutical representative, a part-time farmer and rancher, and a veteran of the U.S. Army who had lived in Hawkins since 1983 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hawkins. He married his wife Linda Lavern Dicken on June 4, 1961 in Farmersville, TX. Mr. Gatlin is survived by his wife, Linda Gatlin of Hawkins; son, Mitchell Gatlin of Mt. Pleasant; daughters, Christine Gatlin of Royse City and Holly Gatlin of Coppell; brother, Jimmy Norris Gatlin of Pattonville, TX; grandchildren, Danielle Gatlin Eitson and Paxton Gatlin; and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Lynn Gatlin and grandson, Jacob Gatlin. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Croley Funeral Home Hawkins.
