Howard Douglas McGuire

Howard Douglas McGuire, 93, of Gladewater, Texas passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023.  Howard was born in Red River County, Texas on July 29, 1929 to Merton and Cora McGuire.

After Graduating Body and Fender of Detroit, Howard worked for General Motors Company as an assembly operator until retirement in 1995. Howard moved to Gladewater where he continued his skills in mechanics and computer technology. He had a fierce love for God, his "Marty", family and boots; in that order. In his retirement years Howard enjoyed working his land, country music, playing the guitar and slow country life. He passed on to his children a strong conviction of integrity, an abundant sense of humor and an example of generosity. Howard's sentiment to every irresponsible person; "They just haven't picked enough cotton."

• Howard was a loving and devoted family man and great father.  He loved spending time and holidays with his family and friends, especially Christmas.  Everyone who had the opportunity to know Howard will be left with wonderful memories that will forever be cherished.

Howard is survived by his beloved wife, Maurine McGuire; children, Michael McGuire and wife Glenda, Jerry McGuire and wife Wilda, Pamela Perryman and husband Robert Perryman Jr., Kelly McGuire and wife Dawn, and Mark McGuire and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Shanna Travis, Marshell Whitehead, Wendy Ravellette, Donna Downs, Jeremy Heim, Ashleigh Taeschner, Emily Maurine McGuire, Robert Perryman IV, Shane Perryman, Jared McGuire, Kayla Randolph, Kate Skeffington, Kylee McGuire, Karson McGuire; sister, Mary McGuire; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; as well as many niece’s, nephew’s and friends.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Cora McGuire; Dorothy Christain, Mildred Watson, Billie Worley, Betty McGuire, Byron McGuire and  grandchild, Rhett Perryman.

A visitation will be held in the chapel of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 6 to 8 in the evening.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 10 o’clock in the morning at Abundant Life Church in Gladewater, Texas.
