Herman Nuten Hanks, 80, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021 in Gladewater. Herman was born July 15, 1940 in Shaw, Mississippi to the late Warren Tolliver Hanks and Lorise O’Bryant Hanks.
Mr. Hanks served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and Berlin Conflict. He retired from Mutual of Omaha after more than 30 years of service as a Manager in the Lake Charles and Longview areas. Herman enjoyed woodworking; building furniture and cabinets. He was a wine enthusiast and even made his own wine. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Herman was a generous, caring and giving man. He loved his family and friends and will not soon be forgotten by all those that knew him.
Herman is survived by his wife of sixty years, Dolores Jo Warren Hanks; two children Lyle Hanks and wife Cathy and Leatha Goldstein; two brothers James Earl Hanks and wife Sandra and Jerry Hanks; mother-in-law Bessie L. Warren; brother-in-law Frank Abston; two grandchildren Hana Goldstein and Joshua Goldstein; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Betty Abston and Warrene Lorise Marshall and his son-in-law Michael Goldstein
Celebration of Life services for Herman will be at held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with Bro. Randall Hodges officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
