Herbert A. Olive

Services for Mr. Herbert A. Olive, 87, of Gilmer, will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 10, 2012, at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas and burial to follow at Laurel Land Cemetery. Visitation will start one hour prior to the service in Dallas at the funeral home. Mr. Olive was born on March 18, 1925, in Wolfe City, Texas, to Sam and Norma Coney Olive and passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in Gilmer. Mr. Olive served in the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII and he married Alice Cole on January 14, 1949. He was the Lead Machine Operator for GAF, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gladewater. Mr. Olive is survived by his wife, Alice Olive of Gilmer; sons and daughters"in-law, Joe and Kathy Olive of Garland, Michael and Debbie Olive of Forney; daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Karl Butler of Copperas Cove; sisters and brother-in-law, Doris and Orvil Brewer of Garland, Shirley Trout of Missouri; ten grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. The family would like to thank the Hospice CareTeam of Longview for all the special care that was given to our loved one.
