Henry "Hank" Cuevas, Jr. passed from this life in Longview, Texas on March 19, 2024. Hank was born in Santa Paula, CA to Henry Cuevas, Sr., and Bruna Romero. He was very proud to be a twin to Claire Vera and adored his older sister, Lydia.
Hank attended Catholic school where his favorite pastime was testing the nun’s faith! He grew up in Santa Paula and became quite infamous for his adolescent tactics, which may be why he moved to Texas in the late 70's. He supported his family and worked as a switchman at Lonestar Steel, where his love of trains began.
Hank was a proud father and loved all his children very much. He met the love of his life in 2003, and married Sandy in February of 2004. They had many wonderful trips together and made a lifetime of memories. He hated country music but knew every song. Hank also despised Sandy's Soap Operas but knew more about Luke and Laura than Sandy did! He loved his dogs more than he liked most people. His favorite things were chocolate cake, turkey legs, and his diet cokes. Hank was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan who, in a cruel fate of the universe, fell in love with a Dallas Cowboys fan! His life was full of love and he left behind memories and stories that will be told for a lifetime to come.
Those left to honor his memories are his wife, Sandra "Sandy" Cuevas; sister, Lydia Valencia (Rick), twin sister, Claire Vera Cuevas (Jay), daughters, Amanda Cuevas-Walls (Phillip), Candy Cuevas, Brandi Jones, and Mandi Knight; grandchildren, Tara Jones and her children, Jailynn, Amarian, Landan, Ashlynn, Nariyah, and Justice; Shayna Knight, Selena Allen, Kensley Fort, Demarcus Askew, and his children, Mila and Sarai; Kameryn Cuevas and his daughter, Gianni Reñea; Marcus Johnson and his daughter, Matea; Breanna Knaupp (Victoria), Tristan Johnson, Shania Askew, Aliis Marshall, and Abraham White. As well as a host of nieces and nephews that will all miss the man everyone called "Paw-Paw."
Hank was preceded in death by his father, Henry Cuevas Sr.; mother, Bruna Romero; daughter. Brandy Reñea Cuevas and his son, Henry Andrew " Andy" Cuevas.
A memorial service will be held at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 2pm with visitation being 1 hour prior to the service.
He truly was a Californian who fell in love with Texas and never left.
