Helen Ruth Humphries

Services for Helen Ruth Humphries, 92, of Gladewater will be Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with Mr. Joe Chase officiating. Burial will follow at the Gladewater Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Mrs. Humphries passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in Tyler. Mrs. Humphries was born March 1, 1924 in Longview, Texas to the late Seymoure and Bunie Smith Troxel. She was a longtime member of the North Loop Church of Christ in Gladewater. Helen enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. She will be remembered for the wonderful pies she baked and the gowns and prom dresses she made over the years. Mrs. Humphries was hardworking and energetic always willing to help. She was retired after many years of service from J.C. Penney. Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She will be truly missed by all the family and friends she leaves behind. She is survived by her husband of 74 years Don Humphries of Gladewater; two sons and daughters-in-law Don Humphries, DVM and wife, Etta of Gladewater and Richard Humphries and wife, Jeanette of Gladewater; sister and brother-in-law Rubye Wood and husband Gordon of Edgewood; five grandchildren: Luetta Allen and husband, Tim, Donna Hutcheson and husband, Steve, John Mark Humphries and wife, Andrea, Amanda Brandish and husband, Tim and Becky Humphries; ten great grandchildren as well as many other loving family and friends.
