Graveside services for Helen Nobles, 87, of Gilmer will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Park in Upshur County with Clay Potter and Wayne Norvell officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
Mrs. Nobles passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at her residence. She was born on August 18, 1929 in Grice, Texas. She owned Nobles Refrigeration and Ice, was a member of Gilmer Church of Christ and was active in the Gilmer VFW. She recently received an appreciation award titled “VFW Mother” for her years of scheduling and controlling the VFW Building for Post 6715 and collecting rentals as a devoted wife of former Post Commander Vernon Nobles.
She is survived by her daughters: Lisa Gaines of Big Sandy and Alison Morgan and husband Craig of Gladewater, grandchildren: Jeremy Gaines and wife Jean, Josh Gaines, Hillary Nutt and spouse Ashley, Colby Nutt and wife Nicole, Devin Nutt, Caitlynn Nutt and Dakota Morgan, great-grandchildren: Adalyn Gaines, Madisyn Nutt, Makayla Hunter, Olivia Nutt and Easton Nutt.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Nobles and parents, Fred Joseph and Merle Bell.
The family would like to thank CareTeam Hospice, with a special thanks to Jesi Henson, Gladys Witt, Wayne Norvell, Sheena Smith, Sherry Dickson and sitters Jessica Hensley and Sheila Coverson for their care of Mrs. Nobles.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Gilmer VFW, 633 Holly Rd., Gilmer, Texas 75644 in her memory.
