Helen Alford

Helen Marie Alford was born in Marshall, Texas on August  9, 1934  to Robert Lewis and Helen Dora O’Conner, and gained her Angel Wings on December 14, 2024. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1951 and married her first love, Charles Arie (Pete) Alford of Harleton in Jan. 1951.

Helen and Charles (Pete) initially made their home in Marshall, Texas but soon purchased property and a home in Harleton, Texas where they raised 4 children, and many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren through the next 60 plus years. Helen and Pete had  67 glorious years together until Pete’s death in 2018.

Helen was employed at Thykol Ammunition Plant in Karnack, Tx. and then as a loving  Homemaker, Mother and Grandmother. Helen was extremely well known for being competitive spirit  and enjoyed playing Women’s Softball, Bowling, Cards, Dominoes and Board Games.

Helen is survived by Daughter Sharon Wright of Diana, Tx., Son Mike Alford and wife Kathy of Harleton, Tx., Mark Alford and wife Debbie of Hallsville, Tx., Matt Alford and late wife Virginia  of Harleton, Tx. Six grandchildren, Carl Wright and spouse Donna, Crystal Skinner, Brian Wright and spouse Julie, Rocky Alford and spouse Tiffany, Ashley Watterson, John Michael and spouse, Summer Alford; ten great-grandchildren, Kara and spouse, Hunter Wright, Nicole and spouse, James Haynes, Kyle Wright, Hannah Wright, Addison Wright, Madison Skinner, and fiancé Zach Daniel, Mollee Skinner, Lillyana Alford, Sophia Alford and Lawson Charles Alford. Also left to cherish Mrs. Alford’s memories are numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Helen was preceded in Death by her parents Robert Lewis and Helen Dora O’Conner two brothers Robert W O'Conner and Thomas O'Conner, two sisters Nellie Morin Doss and Laura Sullivan, Son in law Charles Pat Wright, Daughter in law Virginia Alford, Grandson Elijah Mark Alford and Grandson in law Harley Ray Watterson.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Harleton Methodist Church.
