Harvey L. Walker, 90, of Leander, Texas passed away unexpectedly at his home in Leander, Texas, on January 23, 2024. Harvey was born in Littlefield, Texas, on October 6, 1933. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha, and two sons, Terry Walker and Justin Paul, (J. P.), one granddaughter, Tiffany Mulkey, and a number of great and great, great grandchildren. Harvey was raised primarily by his maternal grandfather Nichols before he became a ward of the state of Texas and was placed by the state at the Waco State Home, a home for neglected and dependent children. He graduated from the school there in the home. Then he began attending the University of Texas before signing up for the Air Force. He laughingly commented that he flew a desk during World War II.
After returning from the Air Force he resumed his education at the University of North Texas and graduated with magna cum laude honors. He went on to take several jobs as Chief Financial Officer. His last job, from which he retired, was with the Cain Foundation, a charitable organization in Austin.
Harvey was a member of Rotary and became a member of the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ in North Austin.
A funeral service will be held February 1, 2024 at 11:00
a.m.at Friendship Baptist Church, Gladewater. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery.
