H. Wayne Smith

Born on April 17, 1929, in Gladewater, Texas, to John M. and Lena Alta Smith, H. Herbert Smith, died on Friday, January 3, 2014, at his home in Gladewater. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Mr. Smith retired from the Gladewater Independent School District after 33 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice Marie Smith; daughter, Beverly Tryon; son, Wayne "Snuffy" Smith; son, Jerry Smith; daughter, Brenda Cline; son, John Smith; son, Roger Smith; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Pullen; brother, J.O. Buddy Smith; and brother, David Smith. He will be greeted in Heaven by his parents, John M. and Lena Alta Smith; sister, Louise Madden; brother, Bill Smith; brother, Dean Smith; brother, James Glen Smith; and sister, Martha Ann Smith. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
