Funeral services for Gwendolyn Colson Bales, 81, of White Oak will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with Chaplain Wayne Norvell officiating. Interment will be in the New White Oak Cemetery in White Oak. Mrs. Bales passed away in her home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer"s amongst her loved ones on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in White Oak. Mrs. Bales was born December 23, 1933, in Wellington, TX to Clyde Richard and Evolee Stratton Colson. She retired from Gregg County after having served 25 years as Deputy District Clerk. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. Mrs. Bales enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking, especially chocolate pie and fried chicken. She also loved her plants. Her family was first and foremost, they were the center of her attention at all times. Gwen will be truly missed by all the loving family and friends she leaves behind. She is survived by her husband, James Lee Bales; sons, Allen Bales and wife, Debra and Doug Bales and wife, Clara; daughter, Ande Bales Turner and husband, Jr.; two brothers, Richard Colson and Clyde Colson; sisters, Norma Inman and Emmy Jamieson; six grandchildren, Jeremy Bales, Julie Bales, Holli Jones, Wendy Stewart, Barbara Sipes and Eric Baxter; ten great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends. The family would like to thank all the staff of Heart"sWay Hospice as well as her personal caregivers Toby, Jennifer, Rita and Vickey for their loving and supportive care.
