Funeral services for Grady Wayne Grabbs, 84, of Starrville, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with George Folmar and Roger Cage officiating. Interment will follow at Starrville Cemetery in Smith County. Mr. Grabbs passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016. He was born on December 26, 1931 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Jim Grabbs and Lamera Motes Grabbs. He grew up in Uvalde, Texas and joined the United States Army as an artillery surveyor and fought during the Korean War. Mr. Grabbs was a class of 1953 graduate from Texas A&M. Grady moved to East Texas to become a Ranch Manager from 1959 until 1977. After retiring from ranching he owned and operated Starrville Grocery and Feed for 13 years. Mr. Grabbs is survived by his son, Michael Grabbs and wife, Dyan of Starrville, Tx.; grandchildren, Casey Grabbs of Starrville, Tx., Nikki Wright of Starrville and Brad Jernigan and wife, Catherine of Liberty City; daughter, Judith Keele of Tenaha; grandson, Jody Fleming of Tenaha, Tx.; great grandchildren, Alexis McBride, Bailey Jernigan, Joscelyn Jernigan; great-grandson, Toby Fleming; brother, Gene Grabbs and wife, Louise of Carrizo Springs; niece, Kimberly House of Taft, Tx., and nephew, James Grabbs of Corpus Christi. Grady is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lamera Grabbs, wife, Lucille Grabbs, second wife, Pat Peters Grabbs and nephew, David Gene Grabbs. The family would like to give a special Thank You to all the staff of Watkins Logan Veterans Home and all his brothers of "H" House and Dr. George Plotkin and Amanda Mullins. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
