Memorial services for Gladys Roan Blundell, 89, of Gilmer will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Croley Chapel with Reverend Ben Bagley officiating. Mrs. Blundell was born on February 24, 1923, in Blackbear Ridge, Alberta, Canada, to Joseph H. and Emma Smith Bond and she passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 in Gilmer. She served in the U. S. Coast Guard in the San Francisco area during World War II. Mrs. Blundell was a social worker for Upshur Manor and a member of Soules Chapel United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Southern Belles and the Methodist Women. Mrs. Blundell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary Elizabeth Roan of Nacogdoches; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherilyn and John Koy Summers of Brumley, Susan and Ron New of Brumley; step-daughter, Joan Warren of Simpsonville; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marian Bond of Reno, Nevada; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren.
