Geraldine "Jerrye" Tuel

Geraldine "Jerrye" Tuel, a devoted mother, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, in Gilmer, Texas, at the age of 89. Born on March 2, 1936, in Hughes, Arkansas, Jerrye’s vibrant spirit and kind heart touched the lives of all who knew her.

As a homemaker and a retired member of the school system, Jerrye dedicated herself to nurturing her family and serving her community. Her home was a sanctuary filled with warmth and love, where laughter echoed and the smell of freshly prepared meals lingered. Jerrye's devotion to her family was evident in every gesture—whether it was the meticulous care she took in maintaining her home or the precious moments shared over cherished hobbies like yardwork, Diamond Art, and fishing. Her ability to keep a clean house was not just a chore, but a reflection of her deep-seated love for her family and the pride she took in creating a welcoming environment.

Jerrye’s personality was a blend of kindness and caring that made her an invaluable pillar in the lives of those she touched. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her compassionate nature uplifted friends and family alike. She carried a joy that was contagious, effortlessly weaving happiness into the fabric of everyday life.

She is preceded in death by her husband, "Toby" Tuel; parents, Robert A. and Garnet Louise Austin; brother, Robert Austin; and sisters, Robbye Miller and Peggye Weatherall.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Tuel, Nina Barrett and husband, Bob; brother, Danny Lovett and wife, Shelia; sisters, Beckye Perkins and husband, Bobby, Vicki Lovett; grandchildren, Amanda, David and Jessica; and great grandchildren, Daniel, Jonah, Asa and Ethan. 

A visitation will be held in her honor on March 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow at Enon Cemetery.
