Georgia Rakagis Herndon

Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Georgia Rakagis Herndon, 72, of Gilmer will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M, Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Reverend Bruno DeJesus and Father Jesudoss Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Ms. Herndon passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Longview. Mrs. Herndon was born on February 7, 1939, in New York City to Gust F. and Helen Kaneleas Rakagis. She was the office manager of TX Dot of Gilmer before her retirement. Mrs. Herndon is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Cindy Herndon of Plano; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Greg Davidson of Gilmer; brother, Nick Rakagis of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Lacy Moore and her husband, Derek; Lana Davidson, Cody Davidson, Jordan Herndon and his wife, Amarys, Patrick Herndon, Alex Herndon and Miriam Hendon. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Herndon. Pallbearers are Cody Davidson, Patrick Herndon, Alex Herndon, Derek Moore and Jordan Herndon. The rosary will be recited at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Monday, December 26, at 6:00 with visitation to follow.
