George Monroe Mitchell

George M. Mitchell, a beloved band director and Gladewater native passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the age of 78. Graveside services will be Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Gladewater Memorial Park in Gladewater, Texas. Services will be under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
George was born in Gladewater, Texas on October, 28, 1935 to George Monroe Mitchell and Madge Yvonne Lowery Mitchell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he earned the title sharpshooter. He taught music and worked as a Band director for 44 years before retiring.
Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his parents: George and Madge Mitchell; son: George Mark Mitchell and grandson Garrett Mark Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Sharon Ann Taylor Mitchell; daughters: Stefani Bridget Mitchell Keene and Sabra Ann Mitchell; grandchildren: Miles Dillon Keene, Grant Matthew Mitchell, Grayson Maverick Mitchell, Kristen Marie Keene, Lance Evan Mitchell, Lauren Elisabeth Mitchell, Gage McClain Mitchell and Gabriel Mark Mitchell.
