Gene Aubrey Bilbrey

Services for Mr. Gene Bilbrey, 83, of Gilmer are scheduled for 10:00 A.M, Friday, March 29, 2013, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Bro. Wayne McKay officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas. Mr. Bilbrey passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in Longview, Texas. Gene Bilbrey was born on August 14, 1929 in Breckenridge, Texas to Jesse David and Minnie Strother Bilbrey. He served in the U. S. Army. He married Dolores Tyler on July 20, 1952 in Yuma, Arizona and they lived in the Upshur County area for over 40 years. Mr. Bilbrey was a friend of Bill W and he started the Pioneer group in 1978 for Gilmer. Mr. Bilbrey is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores Bilbrey of Gilmer; children, Jeff Bilbrey of Longview; Kathy Jamar of Longview, Genny Garmon of Gilmer, and Dee Hall of Cibolo; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Bilbrey. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 28, from 6:00 until 8:00 at Croley Funeral Home.
