Gary Giles age 71 of Gladewater, went to receive his glorious body in the Lord November 23 2022, with his loving wife by his side. A celebration of life for Mr. Giles will be held December 3, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Grace Communion church in Big Sandy.
Gary was born January 14, 1951 in Snyder Texas to Chuck and Mary Giles. He lived in Kerrville, Tx where he graduated from High School in 1969. He was called by God as a teenager which lead to him attended Ambassador College where he received his Bachelors Degree.
Gary married his lifetime sweetheart Denise in 1976. Shortly after they married he got a call from his friend Lou Long to move to East Texas to start his lifelong career as a carpenter. During his career he worked with his wife and son building Jim Walter homes, and then Ambassador College working with students. He finished his career with Jacobe Brothers Construction working in the cabinet shop.
Gary was an avid fisherman where he enjoyed fishing on the river in Kerrville and later at Lake Loma in Big Sandy. He was a pitcher in little league and later in Softball in his church league. He had an ear for all kinds of music which he had saved a large collection. Gary’s passion was the word of God. He was always reading the Bible learning and seeking the wisdom it holds. He loved teaching in small group settings. He will be missed by all who met and loved him.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Louise Giles; father-in-law, Max L. Ford Jr; mother-in-law, Beryl Ford; brother, Scott Giles; sister-in-law, Diane Strawbridge and sister-in-law Betty Ford.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Denise Giles of Gladewater; son Daniel Giles of Gladewater; sister Marilyn Johnson of Huntsville; brother-in-law Max L Ford III of Denton; brother-in-law Bill Strawbridge of Shreveport; sister-in-law Mary Miller of Midland and many nieces and nephews.
