Gary Hetherington Gladewater -- Services for Gary Hetherington, 57, of Gladewater, will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 1 P.M. at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Bailey Harris and Reverend Welton Jones officiating. Born on January 28, 1955, in Silsbee, Texas, he died on Sunday, July 1, 2012. A graduate of Linden-Kildare High School, he received his bachelor"s degree from Southern Methodist University. On May 21, 1977, he married Connie Lindgren in Dallas, Texas. He began his teaching/coaching career in the fall of 1977 at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas. In 1979 he relocated to Gladewater High School and coached for one year. He then began his career with Baker-Hughes Corporation and continued until the time of his death. He was a high school and college football referee for some thirty years. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Connie Hetherington of Gladewater; son, Brent Hetherington of Gladewater; daughters and sons-in-law, Erin and Kyle Keeling of Mt. Enterprise; Robin and Brandon Smith of Nacogdoches; Megan Hetherington of Gladewater; 2 grandchildren, Kennedy and Kolt Keeling; adopted sons, Todd and David Fenton and their families; mother, Betty Hetherington of Linden; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Kim Hetherington of Arlington; sister, Sherre Hetherington of Rockwall; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Hetherington. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church. If so desired, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Program, P.O. Box 1444, Gladewater, Texas 75647. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at First Baptist Church.
