He was born on September 14, 1944 in Pasadena, TX to the late Garner and Darlene Russell Shattles. Danny was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Korea. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his friends and going to drink coffee with the “coffee drinking bunch” where ever they were meeting. He loved listening to country music and also playing word search and watching westerns.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gilmer and the Workers Bible Class. He considered all of them his good friend. He was also ready to help his girls in any way to fix it, repair it, haul it, paint it, mow it, or get rid of it.
Mr. Shattles was fun spirited and loved joking around, living life on the brighter side. He never meet a stranger, if he did they would not be a stranger long. He would find out all about them and make a friend.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Shattles of Gilmer; daughters, Kerrie Lynn Shattles of Gilmer, Lori Roberson and husband, Mark of Houston, and Casey Yielding and husband, Scott of Tatum; and grandchildren, Keaton, Cort, and Gage Roberson, and Aria and Dylan Yielding.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steven Shattles.
