Franklin Delane Graves of White Oak, Texas passed away November 14, 2018 at the age of 86 years old. Frank Graves grew up in Kilgore, Texas as a young boy and later in life Frank moved to White Oak, Texas. He was a long time community servant. He served as White Oak Volunteer Fire Chief for 10 years, as a White Oak City councilman and 30 plus years and as a Gregg County Sheriff Reserve Deputy.
Franklin was born September 20, 1932 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Eda Mae and John Edgar Graves. He was inducted in the Army, February 1953 and was Honorably discharged, February 1955. He took basic training at Fort Hood and Fort Sam Houston, later being assigned at Fort Sill and Fort Bliss, before going to Germany as a MP. After the Army, Frank returned to East Texas where he went to work at Texas Eastman and retired after 38 years of service. In addition to his work at Texas Eastman, he was also a local businessman, manufacturing cultured marble.
He was preceded by his Wife Marcline "Marcy" Graves and brother Pete Graves and Sisters, Pauline Sparks, Lorene Weatherford and Geneva Smith.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son Tommy and wife Diana Graves of White Oak TX his son Jerry and wife Jill Graves of Mineola, TX and daughter Angela Graves of White Oak. His sister Ruth Middleton of The Woodlands, TX. His grandchildren, Amber and Phillip Wright, Breeann Graves, Jared Graves, Abigail Graves, Alexis White and his nephew Jerry and wife Sammy Childers of White Oak. Along with his close friend Judy Emmons of Longview.
Funeral Services will be held at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater, Texas at 2:00 pm, Saturday November 17, 2018. Interment will follow the ceremony at the New White Oak Cemetery, at White Oak Rd and W. Whatley Rd, White Oak, TX. Visitation will be held at Croley Funeral home 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, November 16, 2018.
