Celebration of life services for Frank John Maahs, 84, of Holly Lake Ranch will be Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3718 South FM 2869, Hawkins. The family will receive friends following the services at the church. Mr. Maahs passed away Monday, April 29, 2019, in Tyler.
Frank was born August 28, 1934 in Appleton, Wisconsin to the late Charles John Maahs and Leona Mabel Gore Maahs. Mr. Maahs served ten years in the United States Air Force. He went on to work for Braniff Airlines and Dalfort Aviation as an aircraft mechanic for several years after which he owned and operated a tennis pro shop where he also gave lessons. In his semi-retirement he worked for Wild Birds Unlimited. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, and birder. Frank enjoyed watching any and all sports; especially the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. Mr. Maahs was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He and his loving wife Vera moved to Holly Lake Ranch in 2003 after spending the previous 38 years in Irving. He enjoyed volunteering at Helping Hands in Hawkins. Frank will not soon be forgotten by all the loving family and many friends he leaves behind.
Frank is survived by his wife of 65 years Vera Maahs; daughter Sheryl Foxman and husband Martin; son Charles Maahs and wife Camillia; brother Merrill Maahs and wife Elinor; many nieces and nephews as well as many other loving family and friends.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Hawkins/Holly Lake or The Hospice of East Texas.
