Eva Annette Smith Lansdale

Eva Lansdale, 84, passed away surrounded by her family at home on September 7, 2022, in Longview, TX. She was born on April 19, 1938, in Hallsville, TX to the late William Henry Smith, Sr. and Agnes Grace (Holland) Smith. Eva married Elvin Ray Lansdale on June 24, 1956, in Sandhill, TX, who preceded her in death in 2016.

Eva worked as a professional photographer for nearly 40 years, capturing special moments at weddings mostly, but also took many family portraits and photographed other events, including some rodeos. She always made sure that her family was taken care, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was known for her amazing banana pudding and homemade ice cream. In her spare time, Eva enjoyed sewing and gardening.

She is survived by her children; Joe (Becky) Lansdale, Tracy Lansdale, and Shana (Donnie) Matter; grandchildren, Daniel (Emily) Lansdale, Lance Lansdale, Jennifer (James Johnson) Lansdale, Andrew (Maddie) Landsdale, Colby (Amy Ellis) Matter, Aleisha (Joseph) Crocker, Sha Matter, Stephen Crutchfield and Josh Crutchfield; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Kay Smith and Stella (Robert) Anderson; many nieces, nephews and extended family, as well as her special friends and family, Michele Wilson, Kit and Diana Meddor, and Tommy and Ramona Faulkner.

Eva is preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace Smith; husband, Elvin Lansdale; children, Robin Lansdale and Daniel Lansdale; brothers, William Smith, Jr. and Elwin and his wife Judy Smith; and her sister, Goldie Smith.

A visitation for Eva will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
