Funeral services for Mr. Elwin Dean Beavers, 81, of Gilmer will be held 10:00 A.M Friday, October 11, 2013, at Gilmer First Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Kauntiz, Reverend Marion Palmer and Reverend Blake Lander officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Visitation will be held at Croley Funeral Home on Thursday, October 10, 2013, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Elwin Beavers was born on April 6, 1932, in Upshur County to John Roy and Reba Barber Beavers and passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013, in Tyler. Mr. Beavers served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a commercial painter before his retirement and a member of Gilmer First Baptist Church. Mr. Beavers was an active member of ETEX Board of Directors from 1985 until 2013 and served as the board President from 1999 until 2013; he was also a member of Gilmer Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Beavers is survived by his wife, Lula Mae Snider Beavers of Gilmer; sons and daughters-in-law, Layman and Lisa Beavers of Gilmer, Johnny and Mitt Beavers of Gilmer; daughter, Sandra Beavers Nash of Huntsville; sisters, Peggy Tenpenny and husband, Raymond of Gilmer, Sandra Gayle Beavers Pierce of Gilmer; brother-in-law, Jake Williford of Arlington; sister-in-law, Beth Waller and husband, James L. of Gilmer; sister-in-law, Etta Snider of Hawkins; grandchildren, Russell Beavers, Dr. Bret Beavers and wife, Maggie, Dr. Zach Smith, Victoria Boyd and husband, Roger, Lauren Badders and husband Ryan and Kristen Cope; three great grandchildren, Addison Boyd, Lexi Boyd and Conlee Badders. The pallbearers for Mr. Beavers will be Russell Beavers, Dr. Bret Beavers, Dr. Zach Smith, Roger Boyd, Scott Nolan and David Hill. Honorary Pallbearers are ETEX Board of Directors, Danny Keller, Danny Johnson, Charlie Cano and Thomas Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75701.
