Elvin Kirkland was born in Poplarville, Mississippi on February 22, 1928 to Raymond and Cora Kirkland.
Elvin served his country from September 29, 1950 to July 2, 1952; a Korean War Veteran with Company's 'D' and 'M' 15th Infantry Div. he served as a machine gunner.
Honorably discharged from the Army as a Master Sergeant. After his completion of service to his country Elvin went to the East Texas Oil Fields with Superior Oil, and Mobil Oil. After retirement Elvin Served on the Lake Devernia Members Council for several years, he also worked at Lake Devernia supervising road repairs and maintaining the property around the lake. Member of Greggton Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Cora Kirkland, Sister Era Jarrell Auburn, 3 Brothers; Buck and Ruby Kirkland, Paul and Dorthy Kirkland, Carl and Irma Jean Kirkland. Survivors include: The love of his Life of 70 Years Louise Rester-Kirkland, Son Ed Kirkland of White Oak, TX, Daughter Angela Thomas and (Joe Dan) of Hot Springs AR; Grandchildren Brittany Eppes (Jeremy) of White Oak; Blake Clampitt of Gilmer. Great Grandchildren Ava Still, Kardack, Anrie Eppes and Kinslee Clampitt. Brother in laws' Hayward and Dot Rester, David and Jane Rester; Conrad and Ronda Rester; numerous nieces and nephews. Special life long friends Bill and Pat Voss, Howard and Dot Geske, Mary and Gene Griffin.
Services for Elvin will be held Monday June 17 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 5000 W Harrison Rd, Longview, TX 75604 at 10:00 am
