Some 82 years ago, Elva Louise Norris was the third child born to Douglas Foster and Billie (Allen) Foster of Baytown, Texas. Growing up she had a close relationship with her siblings Frances, David and Billy James who all lovingly referred to her as “Tiny.”
Louise always had a gift for taking care of others and a nurturing nature. She followed in her mother's footsteps to become a nurse and graduated as a registered nurse from CMMC in Shreveport, Louisiana. She later received her BSN from UT in Tyler. She worked in many different areas of nursing throughout her career including hospitals, nursing homes, home health and hospice. Although she loved all aspects of nursing, she especially loved her time working for hospice. Her calling to serve others went far past the Texas and Louisiana borders where she lived. She looked forward to her summers where she accompanied First Baptist Church (Gladewater) on mission trips throughout Mexico. She delighted in spreading the word of God and reaching everyone she could! She actively volunteered and led the Christmas for kids of Prisoners making sure that every child within this ministry received a special Christmas.
Above all, her greatest joy was being a Mother, Grandmother and GG. She was a loving and devoted mother to both her daughter Terrie Mawer and her son. She made sure she was always a loving and active presence in their lives. Once her three grandchildren and five great grandchildren began arriving she was an active support system. She loved each one of them and made sure to attend as many baseball, basketball, football games, grandparents' breakfasts, cheer competitions, and school activities as she possibly could. She made sure they were spoiled with not only her time and attention, but cookies, candy and as much McDonalds as she could buy them! She was the ultimate GG!
Her happy place was her home on the lake. She loved watching the open water, planting flowers and having coffee on the porch with her neighbor, Gary.
She left this world to be with her Lord on January 5, 2025 surrounded by family. The family would like to say thank you to Hawkins Assisted Living and Memory Care as well as Heart to Heart Hospice for taking such good care of Louise.
She is preceded in death by her parents Douglas Foster and Billie Foster Lincoln, her brother Billy Lincoln, and her son-in-law David Mawer. She is survived by her daughter Terrie Mawer, her sister Frances (Wayne) Murray, her brother David (Glenda) Foster, her granddaughters Lacie Bohanon and Kaylee Norris, and her grandson Nathan (Kaitlyn) Mawer. Also, her great grandchildren Preston and Jaden Bohanon, and Raylea, Madan and Maxwell Mawer, and her nephews Doug, Ricky and Randy and nieces Nicole and Angie.
Whenever you told Louise I love you, her answer was always I love you more. So it is only fitting to end this chapter with Love You More GG.
