Effie Wade Boyd

Funeral service for Effie Wade Boyd, 84, of Tomball, TX will be held 11 A.M., Monday, January 29, 2024, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Pastor Bruce McCaffety officiating.  

 Ms. Boyd passed away on January 24, 2024, in Tomball. She was born on December 17, 1939, in Gilmer, Texas to J. T. and Lucille Wade. Her early years were spent in Galveston TX during that time she attended the School for the Blind in Austin TX. Effie retired from Chevron in 1997. At the early age of five Effie accepted Christ as her Lord Saviour. She enjoyed reading and music - especially Southern Gospel. Effie was a friend to everyone and to the end she had numerous friends. She loved to sing special music for church. She was a member of Candlestick Baptist Church. 

Ms. Boyd is survived by her daughter Michelle Green of Spring; daughter and son-in-law Kathie and Harold Peters of Tomball; and five grandchildren, Wesley Lavergne of Houston; Jonathan Lavergne of Terlingua; Misty Lavergne of Cypress; Jennifer Peters and Derrick Viel of Houston; Christopher and wife Brittany Peters of Tomball. Nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, J. T. Wade and mother Lucille Wade, and sister Jennette Montgomery. 

The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.  

Following her service a reception will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 101 Crawford St, Gilmer, TX 75644.
