Mrs. Harrell passed away on Monday afternoon, July 19, at a hospice facility in Gilmer after a lengthy illness. She was born on November 23, 1927, in Wood County to Ulma and Luda Summerville Gore. On November 30, 1944, she married Melvin Harrell and they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his death in 2006 from injuries sustained in a tractor accident on their farm in eastern Wood County. She was a member of Little Hope Baptist Church in Wood County and employed at Gilmer Potteries for 20 years. She was the widow of the late Melvin R. Harrell who served as a BMA pastor and evangelist for nearly a half-century in Wood, Liberty, and Hopkins County associations. Mrs. Harrell was a faithful mother and preacher*s wife for 50 years serving along side her husband in eight churches. Mrs. Harrell is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Patsy Harrell of White Oak, Ricky and RoseMary Harrell, Timmy and Frankie Harrell both of Winnsboro; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Charles Johnson of Gilmer; six grandchildren, Michael Harrell, Kenneth Harrell, David Johnson, John Harrell, Randy Harrell, and Mary Ann Mauk and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jerry Harrell, grandson, Steve Harrell, two sisters, Althea Crone and Margaret Russom.
