Durward Walter "Sonny" Amos, JR.

Funeral services for Durward Walter "Sonny" Amos, Jr., 55, of Gilmer will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Kevin Kennington and Judy Castro officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Upshur County. Durward was born on February 28, 1959, in Dallas, Texas to Durward Walter Amos, Sr. and Evelyn Pauline Young Amos. He passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, in Tyler. Durward was a mechanic; he owned Amos Automotive and Diesel and also Amos Trucking. He is survived by his daughters, Tiffany Amos of Holly Lake, Brieanna Amos of Waco and Ashlee Amos of The Colony; sisters, Kaye Morgan of Axtell, Judy Castro of Terrell, Sue Kennington of Dennison; 7 grandchildren, Braden, Nathan, Jakob, Makenna, Olivia, Brooklyn and Marcus; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by his dogs, Boss and Sadie. Durward was preceded in death by his parents; son, Durward Amos III and sister, Cynthia Amos Pallbearers will be Chris Davis, Donald Burnett, Kelly Key, Robert Smith, Braden Amos and Mark Eitel. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
