Funeral service for Dr. Robert Lee Burgoyne, (Major, USAF, Retired) 81, of Hawkins will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Holly Brook Baptist Church in Holly Lake Ranch with Chaplin Larry Henderson and Bro. Jacob Conner officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2014 in DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins. Dr. Burgoyne passed into the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Dr. Burgoyne was born November 27, 1932 in Fort Wayne, IN to Lloyd Wellington and Naomi Poorman Burgoyne. He was a retired Major with the United States Air Force, held double doctorates of theology, and was a member of Holly Brook Baptist Church. He considered the greatest accomplishment in his life was the founding of Caribbean Partnership Missions (CPM). In 1984, while a student at Criswell Bible College, he led a group of students on a mission trip to Dominica to rebuild La Plaine Baptist Church, which had been destroyed by Hurricane David which hit the Caribbean in 1979. CPM was born as a result of the tragedy from Hurricane David. Dr. Burgoyne is survived by his wife, Carrie Zadine Burgoyne of Hawkins; sons, Robert Lloyd Burgoyne and wife, Hazel of Crossville, TN, Daniel Lee Burgoyne and wife Kathy of Chickasha, OK and Keith Wellington Burgoyne of Lewisville, TX; sisters, Myran Burgoyne of Fort Wayne, IN and Sandy Liddell of Fort Wayne, IN; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Holly Brook Baptist Church in Holly Lake Ranch.
