For the love of the game is how Doyle “Ryan” Allen Campbell II lived his life. He was born a genius on August 1st, 1986 and closed out the 9th on August 24th, 2021. To be loved by Ryan was to be cherished. His beloved bride Meagan feels that on a level that no one else ever will. Kinlee Mae, 8, and Logan Ryan, 6, know what it’s like to be loved by “one of the good daddies” as Logan said when he learned that his daddy went to Heaven. He is their superhero, their protector, their joke teller, and aggravator. He is bigger than life to them and now he is their very own guardian angel.
His hero, Doyle and his confidante, Alison, know what it’s like to be loved by Ryan first. He could sense, from his first day, how inadequate they felt and showed out his brilliance by meeting milestones before he should, being charming his entire life and excelling at anything he chose to do. It was the three of them for “six glorious years” before his best friend, Dillon Key, was born. Wherever Ryan went, Dillon went, causing many near death experiences for Llavé as he called Dillon. It was five more years before the person who first made Ryan understand worry and fear for someone else came along. Cathryn Alison Lee “Callee” taught him that you can still be a man while wearing plastic Cinderella shoes and a tiara and stuffing yourself inside a tiny playhouse.
Others blessed to be loved by Ryan are his grandparents, Maxine Campbell and Tommy and Anita Ferguson. He was a constant source of laughter to his nephews Carter and Dawson Campbell, Liam Lane and Luke Hollis and his niece Blake Hollis.
Aunt Weish, Alishia Ferguson, was his first playmate. She only ever promised to bring him back alive as they set off on an adventure. Nanny, Jennifer Watson, taught him his parenting skills while playing barbies and his Uncle Wes Ferguson and Uncle Brandon Campbell taught him about survival of the fittest and pecking order. He is also blessed with many other uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Waiting for Ryan with rocks to skip and baited fishing poles is Mam, Juanelle Vestal Ferguson. Papaw, Albert Russell Campbell, is also waiting with saddled horses and cows to feed, and Uncle Robert Campbell is there too cooking up gumbo & charro beans, with gators to catch. Quietly behind them, standing by Jesus is Ashley Campbell, willing to be patient for her turn to catch up and laugh with him for eternity.
There will be a gathering on Friday, August 27, 2021, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Diana, TX at the Norton Lovell Auditorium on the New Diana High School Campus. A remembrance of his life will be held in the on Saturday August 28th, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the same location. We will take one more drive by the ballpark on the way to Coffeeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ryan Campbell Memorial Scholarship Fund at 1760 U.S. Hwy 259 South, Diana, TX. 75640 c/o First National Bank.
