Funeral services for Doy Lee Cooner, 79, of Diana will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2011 at Smyrna United Methodist Church with Reverend Debbie Brown and Josue Contreras officiating. Interment will be in Smyrna Cemetery in Harrison County. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Mr. Cooner passed away Friday, at his residence. Mr. Cooner was born June 3, 1932 in Jefferson to Bruce Layfette and Emma Dora Wyatt Cooner. He was a retired signalman for Union Pacific Railroad, had lived in Harrison County most of his life and was a member of the Smyrna United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife: Willie Fern Cooner of Diana; sons and daughters-in-law: Doy Lynn and Genia Cooner of Diana and Gary Ronald and Debbie Cooner of Hollister, Missouri; brothers: G.W. Cooner of Jefferson, Russell Cooner of Jefferson and Vance Cooner of Jefferson; sister: Wanda Bollman of Diana; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and special friend C.C. Alexander, nurse with Beacon Hospice. Pallbearers will be Josue Contreras, Joseph Cooner, Steven Jones, Jason Cooner, Bill Woodruff and Justin Echols. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m, Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Diana.
