Born on August 17, 1951, in Gladewater, TX, parents Delma Jane Vinson (Nelms) and Herman Edward Vinson. Doug was called home on October 3, 2022, and was survived by three children, Chris Vinson, Jennifer Rogers and Stacey Nolen and six grandchildren and one sibling Greg Vinson.
In 1962 Doug’s family moved to Gladewater, TX after the death of his father Herman Vinson and later moved to Palestine, TX during Doug’s teenage years. Graduating from Palestine High School in 1970. Doug was very mechanically inclined, changing out car motors in the driveway, during the hotrod era. Doug then graduated from school for auto mechanics. He later married Linda Williams his high school sweetheart, of Palestine and moved to Tyler, TX and started their family.
Doug loved to fish and compete in rifle target shooting where he would set new range records. Doug was a book of knowledge on automobiles and anything mechanical. Drag racing was a favorite pastime as a spectator and riding motorcycles off road was also a favorite pastime.
In Doug’s later part of life, he worked in hay farming living in Lindale, TX on the farm, for his friend and angel.
Doug was always available to help anyone who asked.
