Dortha Lavetta Wallace

Dortha Lavetta Wallace, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 18, 2023, in Kilgore, Texas. She was born January 27, 1929, to Lee Andrew and Ruby Kathrine Wallace in Upshur County.

Dortha was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Audis LeDon Wallace. Although she dearly missed them all, their memories lived on in her heart.

She is survived by her loving daughter Kathrine Lee (Wallace) Harter of Kilgore. Dortha was also a doting grandmother to three grandchildren: Kaylin (Harter) Howell of Kilgore, Heath Harter of Tyler, and Bryan Harter of Shreveport, along with 4 great grandchildren. In addition to her immediate family, Dortha is also survived by a sister-in-law, a niece, and a nephew, all of whom reside in Gilmer. 

Dortha Lavetta Wallace will always be remembered as a kind-hearted woman who touched the lives of those around her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and devotion will continue to inspire everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Dortha was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Gilmer.

There will be a visitation on December 22, 2023, at 11:00am and will conclude at 12:00pm at Croley Funeral in Gilmer.

Following the Visitation, a Funeral Service will be held December 22, 2023, at the same location. The Funeral Service will start at 12:00 PM and serve as a celebration of Dortha's life. Interment to follow at Danville Cemetery in Kilgore.
