Dorothy Ruth "Nanny" Warren Hendrix

GILMER – Funeral service for Dorothy Ruth “Nanny” Warren Hendrix, 92, of Tatum will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Bro. Jimmie White officiating. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Upshur County, TX. Mrs. Hendrix passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at her residence in Tatum, TX.

She was born on June 27, 1925 in Estill Springs, TN, and was the youngest of twelve children born to the union of T.W. and Bertie Mae Hill Warren. She married Carroll Andrew Hart in 1944. Mr. Hart was killed in action in 1945, before the birth of their daughter, Carol Ruth Hart. In 1946 she married Rayburn L. Hendrix. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Mrs. Hendrix was also preceded in death by all 11 siblings, two great-granddaughters and son-in-law, Jerry Taylor.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Hart Taylor of Tatum; as well as four grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Nanny loved to play dominoes especially with her great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and sense of humor.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Heart-to-Heart Hospice for their kindness and loving care, during her illness. Special thanks to two very dear friends and caregivers Denise Marry and Charmayne Morgan.

Pallbearers will be her family

A gathering of family and friends will be held 1:00 p.m. until service time, Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
