Dorothy Irene Kitchens

Mrs. Dorothy Irene Kitchens, 95, of Gilmer, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 in Gilmer. She was born on November 8, 1921 in Cooper, Texas to Jacob Wallace Brem and Julian Virginia Pierson Brem.

Mrs. Kitchens and her husband, Earnest, owned and operated Kitchens Bait store for many years before letting their son, Jerry, take over the business in Gilmer. Between Earnest, Dorothy and their son, the store has been the family owned and operated for over 55 years. After her retirement Mrs. Kitchens enjoyed gardening in her flower beds, sewing, baking desserts and going dancing.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry Kitchens and Thomas Kitchens; daughter, Juanita Parker; grandchildren, David Allen Kitchens, Rhonda Leigh Parker, Trina Jones, Clint Parker, Shannon Williams and Samantha Wilkerson; sixteen great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Julian Brem; husband, Earnest Kitchens; sisters, Ruth Brem Cherry, Lucille Evans, Lorene Franklin and Kathryn Anderson.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
