Patricia “Pat” Davis, 73 of Colleyville, passed away on July 18, 2023. Pat was born in Longview, TX on September 9, 1949 to William A. White, Jr. and Dot Collins White. She grew up in Longview, with her parents and brother Bill. After high school, Patricia attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Sociology. She returned to Longview and got her first job working for the newspaper where she honed her writing skills and knack for storytelling. While working in Longview, Pat was set up by a colleague with Michael Davis, the love of her life, whom she later married. The newlyweds resided in Fort Worth where Pat got a job at the Arlington Paper.
As she and Mike started their family, she discovered a new passion for teaching and working with kids. She taught at First Presbyterian of Fort Worth Day School for more than 10 years and later taught at First Methodist in Grapevine Creative Learning Center. Her desire to teach led her to obtain her teaching certificate from Texas Women’s University in Denton and started her career in public education. Over the next 20 years, Pat taught in Arlington and Fort Worth school districts in grades pre-k through fourth, with her first love being Kindergarten. She not only loved her students, but she enjoyed building relationships with their families and encouraging the love of education. A lifelong learner herself, Pat received her Master’s in Educational Administration from Texas Woman’s University during her time working in public education. She retired from Fort Worth ISD in June 2016.
Pat, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, writing stories for her blog, hosting Thanksgiving for their extended family at the farm, listening to music, and traveling. For the last several years she had the joy of being “Aunt Tricia” to her great nieces and nephews and “Nana” to her two precious grandchildren. She had a knack for making everyone in her life feel special.
Pat is preceded in death by her mother and father, William A. White, Jr. and Dot Collins White, brother William A. “Bill” White, and son Justin Davis. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Mike, daughter Kathleen Carter, son-in-law Lance Carter and grandchildren Jack Davis and Lucy Collins Carter.
Flowers are welcome, as are contributions to the Texas Girls’ Choir, an organization Pat loved dearly and volunteered with for many years.
