DIANA: Services for Dora Faye Wright Dawson, 82, of Longview will be at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Grubbs-Loyd Chapel in Diana, Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Interment will follow at Eagle Creek Cemetery.
Dora was born on October 6, 1935 in Morton, Texas and entered into rest on January 11, 2018 in Longview, Texas.
Dora went to college in Utah and graduated with a business degree. She became a longtime resident of Longview, Texas where she raised her four daughters. She later became a supervisor for the City of Longview Waste Water Treatment Plant and was voted Woman of the Year prior to her retirement in 1996.
Dora was a quick witted and independent woman. She loved a good laugh and was an amazing word smith who could dominate any crossword puzzle.
She is preceded in death by her mother Rose Emma Mae Wright, father Walter Scott Wright, brothers Alton Wright, Cecil Wright, Odell Wright, Layton Wright and her sister Chloe Smith, grandson Clint Alton Hutchins and nephew Ray Smith.
She is survived by her daughters Rhonda Hutchins and husband Charles, Corlis Collins, Roxanne Powers and Sarah Beavers and her husband Steve, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, January 15, 2018, 6-8 P.M. at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana, Texas.
