Donald Wesley Dickson, 70, went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2011, at his residence in Big Sandy, TX. He was born March 14, 1941 in Carthage, Missouri to Laverne and Velma Dickson. Don graduated from Carthage High School in 1959, attended college and began his 10 year military career in the Air Force, Air National Guard and Army National Guard. Like his father, he was a talented self employed carpenter, and retired to making wooden toys and crafts. Don was a kind and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to many. His undeniable strength, courage and faithful heart guided him through these last few years in his health battles. Preceded in his death, his father and mother, Laverne Dickson and Velma Sammis Dickson, sister, Darlene Hale, daughter, Stormi Dickson and his brother in christ, Gene Cary. Don is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Dickson, his children, Tammy Turck and husband Mike Turck, Candace Myer, Tammy Parsons and husband John Mark Parsons, Missi Hexter, Traci Lehmberg and husband Gary Lehmberg, James Funderburk, 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, his brother Jerry Dickson and wife Karen Dickson and brother-in-law, Ralph Hale. Memorial services will be held at 3 P.M., Monday, May 30, 2011 at Church of Power in Gilmer, TX with Brother Mark Huffhines officiating. Arrangements have been provided by Croley Funeral Home.
