Donald Carlton "Yankee" Burmeister Gladewater " Services for Donald Carlton "Yankee" Burmeister, 79, of Longview, will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 11 A.M. at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dean Grigsby officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. Born on May 24, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, he died on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. A veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Korean War. He was a retired machinist and a Baptist. He loved his family, woodworking, electronics, roses, birds, and his beloved dog, Minnie Mouse. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gloria Burmeister of Longview; son, Michael Burmeister of Phenix City, Georgia; daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Leon Hardin of Liberty City; Vicky Holden of Austin; Gail and Mike Dooley of Winona; Tommie and Dale Flournoy of Timpson; 8 grandchildren, Chris Wieber, Ashley Minton, Thomas Cordell, Tad Flournoy, Caden Hardin, Devyn Hardin, John Michael Burmeister, Briana Burmeister; 1 great-grandson, Collin Cordell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday, November 4, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
