Doil J. Maxwell

Funeral services for Doil J. Maxwell, 92, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Gilmer with Bro. Marion Palmer and Bro. Gary Mason officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Mr. Maxwell passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Maxwell was born on February 3, 1924 in Spiro, Oklahoma to Luther Walter Maxwell and Eva Mae Sharver Maxwell. He was a Veteran of the United States Naval Air Force and he retired from LTV Corp. in the quality control department. Mr. Maxwell was a member of First Baptist Church of Gilmer where he served as a Deacon.

He is survived by his sons; David Maxwell and wife, Patti of Gilmer and Wayne Maxwell of Grand Prairie, Texas; daughter, Linn Hazley and husband, John of Alvin, Texas; brother, Jewel Maxwell and wife, Nola of Gilmer; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Maxwell and his parents, Luther and Eva Maxwell; three brothers, Loy, Troy and Toby Maxwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Gilmer, 304 Buffalo St, Gilmer, TX 75644.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
