Denise Suzanne Harrington, 57, of Tyler, was welcomed into her eternal Heavenly home Wednesday afternoon.
Denise passed away in Hospice of East Texas, after a lengthy battle with metatastic breast cancer, which began when she was first diagnosed in Oct. 2015 and was rediscovered in June, having advanced to Stage 4 bone cancer.
Born Denise Suzanne Rossi on Aug. 19, 1961, in North Hollywood, CA, she grew up in Granada Hills, CA, before moving to Tyler with her family in 1978. She attended Granada Hills High School and graduated from Whitehouse High School in 1979. Denise attended Tyler Junior College her freshman and sophomore years, where she was active in the Speech and Theatre Department.
She has been a member of Green Acres Baptist Church since 1979, where she was baptized, after having received Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age. She rededicated her life to Him at a Steven Curtis Chapman concert in the late 1980s and continued to grow strong in her faith.
She began her professional life in the hospitality and insurance industries prior to accepting an executive administrative position in her parents’ drain cleaning and plumbing business, Able Rooterman, for which she worked 20 years. She was an assistant office manager at Roto Rooter since July 2008, and was with the company until June when her cancer reoccurrence made it impossible for her to continue.
Denise will always be remembered for her generous spirit, beautiful smile and outgoing personality. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and was always glad to help out with encouragement and kindness.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and David Smith, Tyler; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mae Rossi, Crowley; sisters, Leanne Elise Layne, Winslow, AZ, and Linda Doran, Thousand Oaks, CA; fiancé, William Nelson, Tyler; his daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Randy Dickerson, and grandkids, Zachriahy McDade, Raven Williamson, and Randy Dickerson II, Big Sandy.
Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Owen Kane and Nancy Joan Rossi, who passed away from cancer in 2005 and 2012, respectively.
Visitation will be held 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday, with the service following in the Chapel of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Burial will be in Gladewater Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to help offset the medical and funeral expenses.
