Dean Gregory Ames

Celebration of life services for Dean Gregory Ames, 54, of Big Sandy will be Friday, January 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with Brother Sonny Parsons officiating. Mr. Ames passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Big Sandy.

Mr. Ames Was born February 4, 1962 in Cortland, NY to Alvin Grant Ames and Jacqueline Arlene (Maybury) Thomas. Dean grew up in Homer, NY where he graduated from Central High School in 1980. After high school he attended Ambassador College in Big Sandy, TX where he received an AA in Liberal Arts. He worked for Ambassador for ten years as the custodial services manager. Later, he relocated to the Dallas area and became the services manager of Southern Methodist University, where he earned the name “The Dean of Clean”. Inspired by his nickname, he created his own specialized residential cleaning company, THE DEAN of CLEAN, Inc., which serviced the city of Dallas and the surrounding and the surrounding areas for many years.

Dean enjoyed making people laugh and had a trademark sense of humor along with an unforgettable genuine smile. He had a great heart for the needs of others and tried to help wherever he could. Dean was immensely proud of his three children’s accomplishments and loved them dearly. Respected and admired by his co-workers as a hard worker, Dean cared for the welfare of his staff and is remembered as being a good friend. He never met a stranger.

He is survived by three children Gregory Ryan Ames and wife Amanda, David Michael Ames and Crystal Renee Ames. Dean will be forever remembered by his mother Jacque, his sister Diane Ware and husband Rocky, niece Victoria L. Ware and nephew Josiah L. Ware, along with other family and friends whom were blessed to know him.

Dean is preceded in death by his father, Alvin, and his brother Duane.

In Lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made in memory of Dean to Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
