Mr. David Wilburn Patterson, age 75 of Gladewater, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Christus Trinity Mother Francis hospital. David was born in Overton on December 9, 1944 to the late Richard and Theda Mildred (Pruitt) Patterson. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving honorably during the Vietnam War, and then joined the U.S. Army National Guard, completing 25 total years of service. David worked for Haliburton for over 29 years, first as a Sand Truck Driver, and then as a CDL instructor for the company, before working the last 6 years as a Limousine Driver for PTI. He was a proud family man that enjoyed working hard to support his wife and children. When he wasn’t working, David loved hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and a competitive game of Wahoo (for the record, he was in fact, the last wahoo victor in a game against Sharon, Bobby & Misty) or spoiling his beloved grandchildren. He was a member of Lighthouse Church of Liberty City. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who’s memory will be cherished by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sharon (Morgan) Patterson of Gladewater; daughters, Alisa Fahnestock of Liberty City, Angela Torres and husband Archie of Longview, Lori Winklemann and husband Mike of Houston, Misty Tharp and husband Bobby of Big Sandy; brothers, Roger Patterson of Kilgore, Donald Patterson of Harmony; sister, Patricia Siddick of Kilgore; eleven grandchildren, Lacy, Breanna, Harlie, Collin, Lenny, Mason, Brayten, Koby, Keaton, Gracie and Wylie; four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Patterson; and sister, Nelda Moore.
Services to celebrate his life, will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Lighthouse Church of Liberty City, 5805 TX-135 in Gladewater, TX, with Pastor Jake Wommer officiating; interment will follow at Gladewater Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater. Serving as pallbearers are Thomas Odom, Billy Eason, Ronny Copeland, Jacob Daily, Justin Daily, and Chase Merrell.
